The 3-hit performance of Robby Helt, who is tied for 8th in the RCL in home runs with 28, helped the Eureka Hornets beat the Kansas City Tornadoes, 9-2. Getting the save was Jonathan Ortiz, his 2nd. At 79-63, Eureka is in second place in the Roberto Clemente League Central Division.

Eureka shortstop Adam Pappalardo contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a knuckleball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 61st hit of the season and put the Hornets ahead, 6-1.

"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Lewis Cannon.
