The El Paso Mavericks downed the Houghton Gremlins, 6-5, at Golden Goebels Park. Tim Morgan led the way, going 2-for-4 for El Paso. Reliever Ryan Burnett picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Ruben Rodriguez, who is tied for 9th in the RCL in holds with 10, took the loss. The save went to Eric Reichel, number 6 for him.

Sean Johnson went 1-3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI for El Paso. The 24-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Luis Moreno. It was his 66th RBI of the season.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Johnson said.

The Mavericks now have a record of 60-60 with the win over Houghton.
