The Kansas City Tornadoes had to overcome a good performance from Montreal pitcher Greg Spivey to claim a 3-1 win at Debris Field. Spivey went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. Bobby Milleville recorded the save for Kansas City, his 25th of the season. The last-place Tornadoes now sit at 60-77.

Had Matt Cardon not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Cardon hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Tornadoes.

"Tough loss," said Montreal manager Thomas Hughes. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
