The 9-4 San Francisco win over Bloomington was due largely to Mark Crouse. The Earthquakes shortstop went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jose Manzanares notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 2-0. San Francisco currently is in third place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division at 63-54.

The Blazers had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Earthquakes going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old second baseman Joey McCarthy came to the plate. McCarthy hit a bases-clearing double on a first pitch fastball from Bloomington hurler Martin Mercier. It was McCarthy's 33rd double of the year.

"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Crouse told the San Francisco Bulletin.
