Nicolas, Tornadoes Wreck Eclipse, 10-2
|
The Kansas City Tornadoes used an offensive barrage to beat the Chicago Eclipse, 10-2, at Millennium Field. Patrick Nicolas led the way, going 4-for-5 for Kansas City. Ryan Willis, the winner, improved to 9-8. He held the Eclipse to no runs on 2 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 2. The win makes Kansas City 58-58.
Micah Goodwin drove in one run for Kansas City. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Vitaly Hagurov. It was his 51st RBI of the season.
Said losing manager Jared Hughes: "We need to play with more of an edge."
