Starting pitcher Bret Naughton pitched well enough to help the El Paso Mavericks beat the Eureka Hornets, 5-3. Pat Henry earned his 1st save, after closing out the game. Early on, the Mavericks, at 11-1, have piled up the wins.

El Paso took a 4-3 lead on Steve Montgomery's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Montgomery hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Eureka pitcher Ezedine Adegoke visibly frustrated.

"We're rolling right now," said Montgomery. "We're playing good baseball."
