Bison 6-3 Victors Over Jacksonville
|
The Bighorn Bison defeated the Jacksonville Pilots, 6-3, at Arnold Field. Bighorn second baseman Bob Ferreira had a superb performance. He was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Austin Gray snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 3 innings. He's now 6-2 on the season. Nick Merritt sewed up the save, his 5th.
Bighorn used a clutch at-bat from Glenn Wagner to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bison ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Bighorn manager Carlos Esparza commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
Bighorn's record now stands at 68-65, placing them second in the Thurman Munson League West Division.
