Ramrods Prevail, 4-2, Over Maple
|
The Huntington Station Ramrods beat the Maple Marauders, 4-2, at Station Center Yard. Danny Ortiz, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. Lance Kennedy earned his 33rd save in 39 chances. By defeating Maple, the 5th-place Ramrods improved to 53-59.
Brian Matter had a big solo home run for the Ramrods in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Huntington Station leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a forkball from 29-year old left-handed pitcher George Soucy Jr. and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Ramrods on top, 4-2.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Ortiz said after the game.
