The standout performance belonged to Montreal pitcher and Seymour, Tennessee, native Brad Steck. The winning pitcher was Steck, now 8-8. He tossed 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 8. The 5th-place Mounties sport a record of 53-60.

Montreal catcher Jim Horn contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a 2-run single. It was his 44th hit of the season and put the Mounties ahead, 4-1.

Horn said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
