The Cairo Pharaohs defeated the Dallas Texans, 9-4, at The Pyramid. Jared Shifflet, who finished 5th in the RCL in batting average with .319 last year, was a standout performer for Cairo. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Cairo pitcher Cameron Mutton got the win, upping his record to 10-7. Eric Engel got the loss. The win makes Cairo 47-64.

In the bottom of the first inning, left fielder Arnold Lysek had a 2-run home run for Cairo. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Pharaohs on top, 2-0.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Shifflet told the Cairo Bulletin.
