Warriors Get Hard-Earned Win
Fans watched the Walnut Creek Warriors and the San Francisco Earthquakes fight to the finish.

The Walnut Creek Warriors had to overcome a big game from San Francisco designated hitter Dylan Robertson to leave Golden Gate Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-7. Robertson was 1-1 with 4 walks. Mike Traver earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 6-2. Ray Clemens nailed down his 37th save.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Miguel Lopez came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing San Francisco pitcher Chris Sarne, he hit a 0-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Walnut Creek on top, 6-5.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Walnut Creek manager Armando Medina.

With the win, Walnut Creek pushed its record to 82-47.
