Wells Slugs Stogies to 5-3 Win
|
The Havana Stogies stopped the Quebec Armada, 5-3, behind an impressive performance from Hunter Wells. The 21-year old left fielder made life miserable for Quebec pitching. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Victor Ramirez got the win, improving to 3-15. He held the Armada to 3 runs on 6 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 2. The setback makes Quebec 73-55.
Early in the game, Wells had a 2-run home run for Havana. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Stogies on top, 3-1.
Havana manager Taylor Hillary commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
