Houghton Pins 7-3 Loss on Mavericks
|
The Houghton Gremlins and El Paso Mavericks completed their game despite the rain.
The Houghton Gremlins picked up a win at The Corral, knocking off the El Paso Mavericks, 7-3. On the mound for Houghton was right-hander Brian Douglas. He played a key role in the triumph. Douglas, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks.
In the top of the third, Houghton third baseman Geoff Raines had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Raines stroked a run-scoring single to right-center. It made the score 1-0, Houghton. For the game, he was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Douglas.
El Paso has now lost 4 in a row.
