Cardenas, Eclipse Romp Over Texans, 11-3
|
Powered by Israel Cardenas, the Chicago Eclipse downed the Dallas Texans, 11-3. Cardenas went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Eclipse. Joe McKnight went 7 innings for Chicago to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs. He scattered 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 10. His record improves to 1-0. The Eclipse raised their record to 2-0.
Sean Martineau had a big 2-run double for the Eclipse in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago trailing 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Epperson and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eclipse ahead, 2-1.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Cardenas told a local reporter after the game.
