The Cabo San Lucas Toreros extended their losing streak with a defeat by the San Francisco Earthquakes.

The Cabo San Lucas Toreros could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Oliver de Leeuw into a win. Instead, the San Francisco Earthquakes prevailed, 8-5. de Leeuw threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The save went to Ricardo Claudio, number 1 for him.

San Francisco took the lead, 8-5, on Chris Dery's 11th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Cabo San Lucas pitcher Woo-suk Cho in the bottom of the eighth.

Cabo San Lucas manager Bob Alexander, after yet another defeat, remained upbeat. He said: "We're going to get out of this thing, we're going to come busting through."

The 6th-place Earthquakes have a record of 48-58.
