Honu Squelch Earthquakes Offense in Shutout Win
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Golden Gate Park. But former first round draft pick Miles Sorrells produced just enough offense to carry the Honu past the San Francisco Earthquakes, 3-0. Sorrells threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Sorrells picked up the win for Hawaii, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-7. Hawaii is now 59-62. San Francisco is 49-72.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Les Hutchinson? The Hawaii shortstop had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Honu on top, 1-0. For the game, Hutchinson had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I like what I saw today," said Hawaii manager Justin Fiasconaro, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
