When the games really matter, the Montreal Mounties put on their best show, beating the Bloomington Blazers by a final score of 2-0. Humberto Diaz threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. Montreal now leads Bloomington 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Malik Richie? The former first round draft pick Richie stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put Montreal up, 2-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Montreal manager Julián Martínez told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Arson Arena in Bloomington.
