The Montreal Jazz started the League Pennant in style, winning on the road against the Jacksonville Pilots at Arnold Field by a score of 6-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Jazz first baseman Randy Daly excelled. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 4 times.
Montreal needed the clutch hitting of Nathan Albury to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Jazz on top, 6-5. For the game, Albury had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Daly told the Montreal Daily News.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Arnold Field in Jacksonville.
