Host Mounties Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
|
The Jacksonville Pilots moved to within one game of the League Pennant, downing the Montreal Mounties on the road at Mount Royal Grounds by a score of 7-4. Pilots first baseman Chris Sheppard was 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win gives the Pilots a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the top of the fifth, Sheppard had a key at-bat for Jacksonville. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Sheppard hit a run-scoring single off Evan Tedford, making the score 2-1, Pilots.
"There's nothing like the postseason," said Sheppard, "to ramp up the pressure."
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 26th , 2059 at Arnold Field in Jacksonville.
