The Cabo San Lucas Toreros got a magnificent performance from pitcher Justin Dietrich, who muffled the Eureka offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Toreros win at Field de Los Layendas. Victor Gonzalez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-4. Justin Soule, who finished 2nd in the TML in saves with 39 in 2062, was tagged with the loss. The Toreros, at 54-66, sit in 4th place in the Roberto Clemente League International Division.
Had Chris Hogan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Hogan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Toreros.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Dietrich told the Cabo San Lucas Gazette.
