Kansas City Tops Jacksonville Again, 6-5
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of center fielder Eddie Escobar, the Kansas City Tornadoes stopped the visiting Jacksonville Pilots, 6-5, in Game 2 of the Divisional Series today. Escobar went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Tornadoes, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
Had Kenan Minkah not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Minkah hit a 2-run double. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Tornadoes.
"It's a gut punch," Pilots manager Bill Lomax said, "to get here and find ourselves down 0-2 in the blink of an eye."
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Arnold Field in Jacksonville.
