Fernandez Blasts Honu, Junebugs Take Game 2, 6-4
|
The Loachapoka Junebugs defeated the Hawaii Honu, 6-4 in Game 2 of the Wild Card Round today. Making an impact was second baseman Luis Fernandez, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win moves Loachapoka into a 1-1 tie with Hawaii in the series.
Tyler Clemons, who finished 3rd in the TML in home runs with 40 in 2051, aided the Loachapoka cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk.
"We're happy," Clemons told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Loachapoka Camp Meeting in Birmingham.
