Aiken, Hackers Wallop Cattlemen in Game 1 of R1
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers started the Double A League Championship in style today, downing the visiting Snelling Cattlemen at San Jose Municipal Stadium by a score of 9-2 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Hackers right fielder Mike Aiken went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.
Aaron Rickards contributed to the Hackers cause with a productive at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run, giving Silicon Valley the lead.
"Ever since we qualified for the playoffs, the guys have been razzing me about how I'm going to embarrass myself out there," the rookie Aiken said with a smile. "I'm glad to prove them wrong, at least for a day."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at San Jose Municipal Stadium in San Jose.
