Peaches Pull No Punches, Down Legends, 14-1
|
The 2063 season is going from bad to worse for Cooperstown.
The Savannah Peaches put together a convincing win at Martin Field, defeating the Cooperstown Legends, 14-1. Jose Moreno was one of the hitting stars. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for Savannah. Danny Isley picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-4 on the season. He struck out 11 and walked 1 in 8.1 innings, while yielding 1 run.
With Savannah leading 6-1 in the bottom of the third, Moreno came up to bat against Cooperstown pitcher Horst Boogaard. Moreno hit a splitter to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 11th home run of the season put the Peaches on top, 10-1.
"That game went belly up quickly," said losing manager .
The third-place Peaches go to 53-34.
