Nieves Propels Cardinals to 9-6 Win
The Montreal Cardinals beat the Paradise Island Pirates, 9-6, at Denis Coderre Stadium. David Nieves was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The 20-year old second baseman was a menace to Paradise Island all day. Alberto Davila went 7 innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the TR in innings pitched with 112.1, struck out 6 and walked 3. With the win, he's now 13-1 this season. The Cardinals improved to a lofty 61-23.

Montreal left fielder Matt Cox contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 93rd hit of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 8-5.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Montreal manager Emmanuel Even.
