Oconto Falls got a terrific game from right fielder Steve Mays. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Montreal, 6-5. Mays went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The Cardinals go to 58-22, putting them first in the TML R Otto Velez Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Juan Diaz? The 21-year old shortstop Diaz stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put Montreal up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Diaz told the Montreal Citizen.
