Montreal and Wichita played a hard-fought contest.

The Montreal Cardinals earned a close win over the Wichita Storm, thanks in part to Felix Hernandez. The Montreal right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the TR in quality starts with 9, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. In 8 innings, Hernandez surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs.

Matt Cox, who is tied for 9th in the TR in RBI with 61, had a direct impact on the outcome. Cox contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Montreal up, 2-1.

"That's what makes it fun -- everybody's jacked up because of the way we've been winning," said Montreal manager Emmanuel Even.

With the win, the Cardinals improved to 54-21.
