The Buffalo Bison beat the Montreal Jazz, 5-4, in 10 innings, in part because of third baseman Josh Bye. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The second-place Bison improved to 53-48.

The decisive blow was delivered by Osvaldo Guerini in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 29-year old left-handed pitcher Kenny Goswick to win the game for Buffalo. The home crowd went nuts.

"Took some scratching and clawing," said Guerini. "But we got it done."
