Mounties Tack 8-5 Loss on San Francisco
|
The Montreal Mounties defeated the San Francisco Earthquakes, 8-5, in Thurman Munson League action at Golden Gate Park. Montreal pitcher Ryan Martin had a standout performance. Picking up the save was Jim LeMay, his 22nd. The first-place Mounties, at 67-34, lead the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division by 11 games.
Montreal used a clutch at-bat from David Alicea to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mounties ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Ryan is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Montreal manager Julián Martínez.
