Calgary met Antioch in a late-season showdown.

The Calgary Kodiaks handed the Antioch Coal Miners a 4-2 defeat at Foothills Stadium. Third Baseman Gavin Lawson starred for Calgary. He was 3-4 with 2 home runs. Calgary is now 93-65, while Antioch is 96-62.

The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from shortstop Mike Young. For the game, Young was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 26th double of the season gave Calgary a 2-1 lead.

"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Calgary skipper Stanley Harvey.
