The Calgary Cowboys withstood an impressive performance by Thunder Bay catcher Barry Murray to defeat the Black Bears, 8-7, at Cowboys Field. Murray went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Calgary reliever Matt Daniello picked up the win. Bobby Papenfus took the loss for Thunder Bay. Mike Dooley earned the save for Calgary, his 12th of the year.

Chris Schwegler hit a run-scoring double off Bobby Papenfus in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Cowboys in front, 8-7. In addition to the double, Schwegler had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.

"They had a good approach," Thunder Bay skipper Qi-chang Ec said of the opposition. "Hats off to them."

With the victory, the Cowboys upped their record to 96-61.
