Swallowtails Rebuff Hitmen, 4-2
|
State College pitcher Ricardo Diaz had a large part in his team subduing the Calgary Hitmen, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Randy McCafferty recorded his 6th save for State College. The Swallowtails, at 74-82, sit in 6th place in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division.
The Swallowtails got a big at-bat from third baseman Scott Carpenter. For the game, Carpenter was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 20th double of the season gave State College a 4-2 lead.
"We did enough to win," said Diaz.
