Armadillos Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Firebirds
|
Albany got a valiant performance from pitcher Chris Courtney, but it wasn't enough to beat the Amarillo Armadillos. Amarillo won the game, 3-2. Courtney threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. Amarillo reliever Mike Lake picked up the win, upping his record to 10-7. Israel Sanchez absorbed the loss. The losses continue to mount for Albany, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
Bruce Anderson was the walk-off hero for Amarillo. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Armadillos center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Every loss hurts," said Albany manager Vicente Vargas. "But this was a tough one."
