Firebirds Take Home 4-2 Win Over Amarillo
|
Alex Benitez, who is tied for 8th in the TAAA with a .398 on-base percentage, led Albany to a triumph over Amarillo. The final score was 4-2. The first baseman went 3 for 3, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 1 run and added 1 RBI. Gavin Birchall, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-11. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 6. Earning his 17th save of the year was Israel Sanchez.
The Firebirds got a big at-bat from designated hitter Larry Capobianco. For the game, Capobianco went 1-4 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Albany a 3-2 lead.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Albany manager Garry Rabenek.
The 4th-place Firebirds have won 4 in a row.
