At Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the Baton Rouge Outlaws and Fairfield Flash were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Despite a great performance by Baton Rouge third baseman Carlos Mendoza, the Fairfield Flash defeated the Outlaws by the score of 8-5 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Mendoza was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Gaston. He tossed 74 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits.

Fairfield took the lead, 7-3, on Mark Colson's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Baton Rouge pitcher Jesse Bates in the bottom of the seventh.

"It's still just a game," said Colson, "whether you win or lose."

With the win over Baton Rouge, the Flash improved to 75-76.
