Cacti Take Down Cowboys, 7-3
|
The Albuquerque Cacti used the hitting of catcher Ignacio Pertorini to subdue the Calgary Cowboys, 7-3, in 10 innings. For the game, Pertorini slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Albuquerque reliever Dave Recer picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Mike Dooley was saddled with the loss. Albuquerque is now 83-68.
Pertorini had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 0-1 sinker from Mike Dooley, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Cacti a 6-3 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Pertorini.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Pertorini. "I like it."
