Swallowtails Suffer One-Run Loss at Bowling Green
|
Top of the Hill was the site of a competitive game between the State College Swallowtails and Bowling Green Racers.
State College got a decent performance from pitcher Bruce Hauber, but it wasn't enough to beat the Bowling Green Racers. Bowling Green won the Top of the Hill contest, 5-4. Hauber threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Steve Simons, the winner, goes to 10-7. He allowed 4 runs on 10 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout over 8 innings. Karl Molnar closed out the game, earning his 12th save.
Bowling Green took a 5-4 lead on Zach Jackson's 10th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Jackson hit in the bottom of the seventh, left State College pitcher Matt York visibly frustrated.
Jackson told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
Bowling Green has now won 4 straight, while the Swallowtails have lost 5 in a row.
