Firebirds Earn 7-1 Home Win
The Albany Firebirds topped the Calgary Hitmen, 7-1, at Capital Grounds. Albany second baseman Ricardo Velasco was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Albany reliever Pete Forbes picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Dan Wallace absorbed the loss. The Firebirds now own a record of 79-66.

Alvin Hawley was 1 for 4 for Albany. The 24-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Dan Wallace. It was his 7th hit of the season.

Said losing manager Austin Alexander: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
