LeRette Lifts Cacti to 5-2 Triumph
|
The Albuquerque Cacti stopped the Baton Rouge Outlaws, 5-2, at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. The Cacti got a big game from Bryan LeRette, who was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Albuquerque pitcher Ozzie Pedro got the win, upping his record to 3-2. Drew Young got the loss. The second-place Cacti sport a record of 80-65.
Ricardo Nieves had a big 2-run double for the Cacti in the bottom of the third inning. With Albuquerque leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Drew Young and swatted a double to center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cacti ahead, 4-0.
"I really like what we did out there today," Nieves said after the game.
