Firebirds Take Nail-Biter Over Cacti
The Albany Firebirds did just enough to secure a victory over the Albuquerque Cacti, 4-3, in 12 innings at Capital Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Chris Courtney. Israel Sanchez, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-3. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. The Firebirds, at 60-83, sit in 6th place in the TML AAA Cito Gaston League.

The Firebirds got a clutch hit from left fielder Nick Simmons. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Firebirds.

"We were the better team," crowed Simmons.
