Knights Win at Chippewa, 5-1
|
Raul Cortes, who is tied for 10th in the TA in wins with 12, never let the River Chiefs get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his knuckle curve, to pitch the Knights to a win, 5-1. Cortes yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 12-6. Kingwood now owns a record of 85-77.
Kingwood used a well-timed hit by Kevin DiMaio to capture the win. The second baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Knights ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We did a lot of things right," said DiMaio.
