The Reservation was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
The Chippewa River Chiefs downed the St. Paul Saints, 2-0, at The Reservation. Stellar pitching by Victor Salinas had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the TA with a 11.3 K/9 rate, handcuffed his opponent all game. Chippewa is 72-89 and St. Paul, with the loss, 48-113.
Chippewa took a 2-0 lead on Luis Silva's 12th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Silva hit in the bottom of the seventh, left St. Paul pitcher Gotzone Olvera visibly frustrated.
"My job is to go out and execute," said Salinas.
