Thomas Helps Chippewa Bombard Charleston
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs marched over the Charleston Panthers, 15-4, at Franklin Mountains Field. Josh Thomas, who is tied for 4th in the TA with a 1.172 OPS, led the charge. He went 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Ryan Adams earned the save for Chippewa, his 2nd of the year. The 5th-place River Chiefs sport a record of 71-88.
With Chippewa leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Thomas hit a fastball from Alex Saxton for a 3-run home run. It was his 33rd home run of the season and put the River Chiefs ahead, 5-0.
"We just can't get over the hump," said losing manager Jin-song Cheung.
