Goodwin Good, But Not Good Enough, in 8-6 Loss
|
The Montreal Mounties outlasted Micah Goodwin and the Kansas City Tornadoes, 8-6. Goodwin was impressive in the loss. The Kansas City first baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Montreal is first in the Roberto Clemente League International Division with a record of 69-46.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Chris Elliott? The Montreal right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mounties on top, 8-6. For the game, Elliott had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Elliott told a Montreal Chronicle reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
