Bandits 1B McFadyen goes 3-for-4 in Win
|
The Brownsville Bandits beat the San Angelo Mustangs, 9-6, at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. Harvey McFadyen, in particular, was impressive. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jacob Allen in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Humberto Bonilla took the loss. The save was credited to Tom Hughes, his 3rd.
Brownsville used a clutch at-bat from Ryan Quigley to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bandits ahead, 7-6. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," McFadyen told a Brownsville Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The 5th-place Bandits now have a record of 70-86.
