The home crowd had a good time watching the Kingwood Knights and Victoria Vikings get after it.
The Victoria Vikings weathered an outstanding game by Kingwood right fielder Chris Woodring to topple the Knights, 6-4. Woodring was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Francisco Guevara picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-7. Lonny MacLeod suffered the loss. The save was credited to Mike Bergren, his 5th.
Walt Rae hit a bases-clearing double off Lonny MacLeod in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Vikings in front, 6-4. In addition to the double, Rae had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Rae. "You've got to get results."
Victoria now sits at 69-84, while Kingwood falls to 79-74.
