The Vancouver Pioneers cut down the Pennsylvania Butterflies by the score of 11-4, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Jamal Simmons. Simmons went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Pioneers. The win brings the Pioneers to 3-7, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Bill Shook had a chance to do some damage. Pennsylvania was trailing 8-3, but had the bases loaded. Shook came to the plate against Mike Ortner, and hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough to complete a Pennsylvania comeback.
