Starting pitcher Steve Martel took care of business, helping the Eugene Emeralds stifle the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws, 5-2. The winning pitcher was Martel, now 9-11. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 9. Santos Lorenzana earned the save, his 20th in 21 tries.

Eugene took a 3-2 lead on Trevor Russo's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Russo hit in the bottom of the seventh, left West Virginia pitcher Willie Fermin visibly frustrated.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Russo.
