Niagara Falls starter Tony Diaz put a stranglehold on the St. Petersburg offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Barrels to a 2-1 win. Reliever Jose Rodriguez picked up the win. His record improves to 4-7. Danny Baugh took the loss. The win gives Niagara Falls a season record of 78-69.

David Gilmore was the walk-off hero for Niagara Falls. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Barrels designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's a mindset," said Diaz. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
