Lawmen Stun Panthers, 6-4
|
Thanks in large part to shortstop Stanley Wilks, the Marshall Lawmen beat the Charleston Panthers, 6-4. Wilks went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Michel Mercier closed the door for Marshall, picking up his 5th save of the year. The Lawmen now own a record of 83-62.
Luis Martinez provided a timely hit. The Marshall center fielder delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lawmen on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Wilks. "Those qualities define our team."
