Black Bears Upend Royals, 2-1
|
Fraser Valley starter Jesus Cervantes put the Windsor offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his sinker in leading the Black Bears to a 2-1 win. Arturo Cendejas, credited with the save, is now 11 for 15 in save opportunities. By defeating Windsor, the 5th-place Black Bears improved to 76-84.
Travis Stiff drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate for Fraser Valley. The 21-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Matt Bundy. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Cervantes.
